Reporting from TechCrunch, Friday (5/3/2021), the Facebook-owned messaging service said that they provide assistance to many people sitting at computers who have to reach for their phones every time their WhatsApp rings. “Over the past year, we saw a significant increase in people calling each other on WhatsApp, often for long conversations. Last New Year’s Eve, we broke the record for the most calls ever made in a single day with 1.4 billion voice and video calls, “the company said. A new feature now allows you to answer on a much bigger screen via a desktop application that gives you the opportunity to see your family and loved ones clearly on a larger canvas. Whatsapp also says, to make the desktop calling feature more useful, they have made sure it works seamlessly for portrait and landscape orientation. Very useful for those of you who have a tablet. This feature will also allow you to resize windows on your computer screen and set it to stay at the top so you will never lose your video chats in browser tabs or open stacks of windows. On their site, WhatsApp takes the opportunity to remind users that voice and video calls on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted, which indicates that WhatsApp can never hear or see the conversation, regardless of whether you are calling from a phone or computer. “We started with a one-to-one call on the WhatsApp desktop application, so we made sure that we can provide you with a reliable and high-quality experience. We will expand this feature to include group voice and video calls in the future,” they added. What do you think about this feature? Let us know through the comment section below.
